media effects - refers to the influence of media exposure on people, and these effects can be positive or negative
media regulation -
passive audience theory -
hypodermic syringe - whoever owned/ controlled media industries will use the media to control the working class/ persuade them, trying to replace basic need with aspirations so it makes people need their non essential items

makes people seem like they are easy to persuade and control - believe everything they see

from repetitive viewing of violent images, the audience becomes immune to the representations, this is called desensitisation
