LO4/LO5 - RAJAR EXAM REVISION

3 trends -
there is a curve showing between 2011 and 2016 there was a general increase in listeners and then between 2017 and 2020 it has began to curve into decline

between 2016 and 2018 had the highest number of listeners for all categories

overall 15-24 year olds listen to the radio on their smartphone or tablet more than 25 year olds

I think that over time people started listening to love radio more on tablets and phones as technology was continuously progressing so that it is more accessible, this means that more people will be able to listen to the radio from different places, however i believe it stared to decline because of streaming, services such as Spotify, this is as on services such as these you don't have things such as news and if you have a membership you don't have adverts, this means it is more convenient to these age groups who may just want to listen to music and not have everything else.

Moreover I also believe the changes may be due to changes in trends, as in the music industry audiences preferred genres of music change constantly, and since from the name we can infer this radio station only broadcasts love songs, we can identify from the percentage of listeners too that up to 2018 love songs were becoming increasingly popular in this age group but as trends change in music from 2018 love songs become less popular with all audiences
