synergy is a method of cross media promotion where it a company promotes its other media products in other media products or sectors.

most efficient methods of marketing to maximise success

One reasoning is beneficial to an independent company as it allows it to market itself through other companies, this is because the business' name will be featured in the credits so when viewers see it then their name will be shown. For example the joint venture between Channel 4 and Warp Films to create This is England, in this case warp Films a smaller company will be able to promote itself as its name will be featured through Channel 4's many distribution channels.

different platforms to promote itself - marketing

One disadvantage is that it is harder to distribute your media products, this is because instead of owning different distribution channels it has to pay a company to distribute them, this is bad is it will become increasingly costly so profits will decrease, and for independent companies such as Hat-trick Productions who are smaller they will spend a lot paying businesses like BBC to broadcast them.

another disadvantage is that it is harder for the business to reach different types of audiences, this is because unlike conglomerates like Disney who can appeal to many audience types through ownership of companies like National Geographic, Fox, Marvel and Lucas-film, they can only appeal to a niche audience at a time.

editors - have to take all of the different shots and edit so that it switches between them accordingly to the action - in the dark knight they had to use sharp cuts to maintain and reflect the high tension in the scene(lee smith)

sound editors - they will add any non diegetic sounds afterwards like music in the background and this is important as it reflects the mood, in the dark knight they add murmurs in the background to add to the realism of the scene(Richard king)
